






Herrera designed a regional, integrated facility to improve water quality, restore and enhance native habitat, and reconnect Carli Creek with its floodplain, reducing flooding and hydromodification impacts. Our engineers, landscape architect, vegetation specialists, permitting specialist and water quality scientists created a design that promotes infiltration and hyporheic exchange and increases habitat diversity. A deep stormwater diversion pipeline routes the “first flush” from the existing outfalls to the treatment area. The diversion storm line includes construction or replacement of approximately 1,800 lineal feet of 18 to 24-inch diameter storm drain; connections to existing structures; and two diversion structures. We modeled the complex site with 1D and 2D SWMM and River Flow2D, and are now providing services during construction.
