We believe development practices must continue to evolve toward sustainability—not only to have less impact on ecological systems but eventually restoring them. Herrera’s site development engineering practice leverages the firm’s deep bench of engineers, environmental scientists, ecologists, permitting experts, biologists, and researchers to deliver site development civil engineering solutions that support sustainable development and are based on current science. Our engineers are thought leaders in sustainable civil engineering design and work on projects across the landscape from marine waterfront sites, redevelopment sites in the urban realm, green field development sites, campuses, parks and trails, projects in sensitive ecological settings, and projects in the upper watershed. We are committed to supporting projects seeking high degrees of sustainability performance including certification under LEED, The Living Building Challenge, SITES, CORE, Envision, and other rating systems. We provide planning-level civil engineering support to public and private projects, prepare design final plans, specifications, and cost estimates (PS&E), and can provide construction management, and post construction monitoring as needed.
