Colleen Mitchell, PE, LFA Herrera led field investigations, planning and design for trail improvements and restoration activities within the Hundred Acre Wood. The park is used by a wide variety of users, and desire-line paths were degrading wetlands. Herrera developed phased plans to maintain access throughout the site while reinforcing the boundaries of some trails and rerouting others out of wetlands and streams. Other improvements included restoring and replanting wetlands with native plants, constructing boardwalks, bridges, and adding amenities such as benches, signage, and trash receptacles. Herrera provided support throughout the bidding, permitting, and construction phases.
