Washington State Ferries is replacing ageing and seismically vulnerable parts of Colman dock to ensure it maintains function for over 9 million annual users. We characterized sediments and evaluated sediment management alternatives for planned construction activities at the dock. A review of historical upland activities and sediment quality data was conducted to support development of a NEPA Environmental Assessment. Sediment samples were collected and analyzed to determine baseline pre-construction conditions, and sediment management alternatives were evaluated to address sediment cleanup requirements.
