Herrera Environmental Consultants, Inc. (Herrera) is pleased to welcome our first outside member to the board, Amy Marasco. With over 30 years of experience in environmental policy and management, Amy is a nationally recognized expert, working with clients on effective strategic planning, marketing, communications, and organizational re-designs. She coaches public, private, and nonprofit sector executives in developing business and communication strategies, M&A, and organizational and cultural transformations.
“We are excited to have Amy join the Herrera Board in 2022. She brings a wealth of Board experience, enthusiasm, and a great outside viewpoint to keep Herrera focused on our future,” said Christina Merten, Chair of Herrera’s Board of Directors.
Amy is currently the President of ReThinkIt Associates, a small, women-owned management consulting firm specializing in strategic planning, communications, and organizational effectiveness. Amy is also known for her work mentoring small businesses and MWBE firms.
A successful entrepreneur, Amy co-founded and acted as CEO of a 350-person IT and environmental management company. In this role, Amy managed multi-million-dollar U.S. federal government contracts with the Environmental Protection Agency and the Departments of Transportation, Energy, Defense, Agriculture, and Interior. She has also spearheaded high profile acquisitions, successfully negotiating the sale of a $50 million firm to a Fortune 100 company.
In addition to her experience as a management and organizational consultant, Amy is the founder of The Nature Generation, an environmental nonprofit organization committed to educating youth on environmental stewardship. She also served as the Vice Mayor of the Town of Hillsboro, Virginia, where she focused on award-winning infrastructure projects including pedestrian safety and transportation, drinking water, stormwater and wastewater initiatives.
“I am delighted to join the Herrera Board. I have always been impressed by their work, work that is so critical to our nation, states, and municipalities,” said Amy Marasco.
Amy’s background in the environmental industry and experience implementing growth strategies and business plans for numerous organizations will play an integral role in Herrera’s continued growth. As our firm expands into new regions and evolves to 100% ESOP, we look forward to working with Amy to help Herrera reach our organizational goals.
