SR 167 Completion Wetland Delineations

For decades WSDOT has been planning a criticalmissing link in Washington’s highway network: extending State Route (SR)167  from the City of Puyallup to SR 509 amid the Port of Tacoma. WSDOTis currently developing the design of this project, which involvesapproximately 6 miles of new interstate highway amid a flat and wet landscape.As key members of the consultant team, Herrera wetland biologists are leadingthe effort to delineate wetlands and streams within the project corridor,characterize existing habitat conditions, and forging a strategy for mitigating impactsto approximately 25 acres of wetlands in the project area.
