Nate Paris
Environmental Planner

Growing up in the Oklahoma Panhandle and Driftless Area of Minnesota shaped my interest in the natural world and finding solutions to interact with it sustainably. My environmental planning experience in the public sector eventually led me to the PNW where I am now a proud member of the Herrera team! Spare time typically finds me in wandering the mountains, contemplating a new woodworking project, or pacing my living room cheering on the Minnesota Twins/Vikings/Wild.
- Education:
-
M.A., Urban Planning (Env. Science Emphasis), Minnesota State University
B.S., Geography, GISc, Urban & Regional Studies Minor, Minnesota State University
- Favorite Quote:
- “There is no bad weather, only inappropriate clothing.” – Sir Ranulph Fiennes
- Favorite Species & Why:
- Bats, specifically the Hoary Bat (Lasiurus cinereus). Nature’s pest control with a great head of hair.
- Hidden Talent:
- Either my spatial memory or ability to assign doppelgängers.
- Proudest Moment on the Job:
- Assisting with the adoption of the Minnesota Buffer Law in Waseca County, MN. This experience found me helping the local agricultural community interpret new regulations on centuries-old farming and land use practices to help understand the environmental benefits and economic opportunities to improving water quality by incorporating riparian buffers on their ag lands – seeing a stream evolve from what looked like chocolate milk to “clean and clear” in a matter of months is pretty rewarding!
