Kristine McGowan

Two passions have served as my guideposts throughout my career: writing and the outdoors. They took me on an 18-month road trip across North America, and now they’ve brought me to Herrera, where I’m thrilled to use my skill set to produce publications about our technical staff’s incredible work. When I’m not wrangling documents, I’m usually hiking, rafting, reading, or shooing my cat off my unfinished manuscript.

Favorite Species & Why:

The American pika, aka the mountain hamster. Despite their small size, they're incredibly tough, spending their entire lives in harsh alpine terrain. They remind me that we can overcome enormous challenges, even when we feel small. Plus, they're cute and squeaky.
