Herrera is proud to announce the beginning of construction for the Redmond Senior and Community Center. Located on the Redmond municipal campus, the new community center will replace the former Redmond Senior Center that was demolished in 2020, creating an all-ages space for gathering and recreation.
The 43,000 square-foot building will house a variety of programming such as senior-dedicated spaces, a lounge and library, a large multipurpose community room and commercial kitchen, a flexible gym space, group exercise studio, an elevated indoor walk/jog track, locker rooms, classroom spaces, meeting rooms, and a supervised Kids Zone for Redmond’s youngest community members.
The building is targeting LEED Gold certification, having several sustainable features including a rooftop solar array that will provide 50% of the energy needed to operate the facility.
Herrera collaborated with Opsis Architecture to provide civil site engineering design and environmental permitting support. Through these efforts, Herrera managed all associated floodplain and critical area permitting and mitigation, in addition to leading the design of utility connections, expanded paving for pedestrian and emergency and maintenance vehicle access, green stormwater practices, and site grading.
Our team looks forward to seeing the development of the Redmond Senior and Community Center in the coming years, providing the City with an amenity for all to enjoy.
