The effects of climate change could significantly influence the Puget Sound Region in the coming decades, adding to existing impacts caused by urbanization and shoreline alteration Herrera helped the City of Tacoma to better understand and proactively manage risks posed by predicted changes in temperature, precipitation and sea level. Working with the City and other consultants, we identified vulnerabilities to climate change in Tacoma’s built infrastructure, natural systems, and social systems. Herrera assessed the risks posed by climate change to the City’s built infrastructure, focusing on surface water, wastewater, transportation, and solid waste.
