Herrera is currently developing concept designs and a phasing plan for trail improvements and restoration activities within the Chuckanut Community Forest, a.k.a. Hundred Acre Wood as part of Phase 1 of the Hundred Acre Wood improvements. This work will refine and design specific improvements within a portion of the park, while considering future phases of improvements aiming to restore and preserve the natural environment while providing educational and recreational opportunities to a diverse group of visitors. The Master Plan references Herrera’s previous Stewardship Plan for the Hundred Acre Wood property, providing recommendations for the long-term conservation, restoration, and monitoring of the site through a science-based framework. As part of Phase 1, Herrera is currently conducting field investigations, developing a list of proposed treatments, and preparing drawings showing the extents of each proposed treatment. The first phase of work includes concept-level designs and cost estimates with detailed design, permitting and bid documents to follow.
