East Orchard Retrofit and Design

Currently, stormwater in the East Orchards basin of Vancouver is managed primarily through underground injection control structures, many of which do not meet current state standards or have pretreatment. Herrera identified strategies for improving groundwater quality in the basin, then developed concept designs, project renderings, and cost estimates. We ranked projects for stormwater retrofits, including proprietary stormwater best management practices, rain gardens, regional facilities, and riparian shading along Burnt Bridge Creek. We also conducted a habitat assessment along Burnt Bridge Creek.
