36th Street NE Bridge Improvements Over Catherine Creek
The City of Lake Stevens is evaluating bridge replacement alternatives for the 36th Street NE crossing of Catherine Creek. Herrera is providing environmental, geomorphic, and hydraulic engineering analysis support for a “type, size and location” report that will enable selection of a preferred bridge replacement configuration. To date a Herrera biologist and geomorphologist have reviewed a variety of sources of available information on Catherine Creek and conducted field work to delineate the ordinary high water mark and bankfull width of the stream channel in the project area, identify the presence of any wetlands regulated by the City, state and federal agencies, collected site data for analysis of geomorphic conditions, and evaluate existing instream and riparian habitat conditions. Ongoing work that Herrera will be doing includes hydrologic analysis of streamflow conditions (from base flows to extreme flood conditions), hydraulic modeling of existing conditions, and further assessment of geomorphic conditions using those model results.
