Canyon Ferry Shore Stabilization

Helena, MT

The Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) has identified six sites along the shoreline of Canyon Ferry Reservoir near Helena, Montana with moderate to severe erosion issues. BOR owns these six sites and intends to adopt sustainable shoreline protection practices. Herrera is assisting BOR with analysis of existing conditions, developing alternative solutions for the various sites, and preparing detailed design plans for the preferred erosion control solution at each site. The project requires solutions and techniques in sensitive cultural and natural resource areas that are visually, environmentally, and ecologically compatible with the surrounding landscape. Herrera’s designs consist of a combination of structural wood protection and revegetation that will cost-effectively meet these objectives.
