New Technology for Quieter In-Water Construction

PBS Newshour aired a story featuring Marine Construction Technologies, the Seattle start-up where Herrera’s Associate Scientist Julie Hampden, has been working part-time. In an effort to protect aquatic environments and the species that live in our beautiful oceans, lakes and rivers, MCT has been developing a new pile technology for in-water construction that is quiet. Take a look at the story, and you’ll learn about why underwater noise is an issue, how it is affecting species we care about, and what is being done to help address the problem.
