Ship Canal Testing Facility
Herrera has been conducting stormwater filter testing at the Ship Canal Test Facility (SCTF), located beneath the I-5 bridge in Seattle, for the past 10 years. Runoff from Interstate 5 enters the facility through a 30-inch pipe, where a series of flow splitters divert the water into 4 separate testing bays. Treatment devices can easily be installed and removed in each bay with no excavation required. Herrera instrumented the facility with 8 flow sensors, electronically controlled valves, automated samplers, and digital telemetry to tie it all together. Over the past 10 years Herrera has tested 10 technologies at the SCTF, 6 have received GULDs through the Washington State Department of Ecology TAPE process and 4 are currently being tested and will obtain GULDs within the next year. This track record makes the SCTF the premier TAPE testing facilities in the country.
