Strawberry Bay Restoration

Herrera is assisting Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR) by assessing the feasibility for ecological restoration of its recently acquired land at Strawberry Bay, located on the west shore of Cypress Island. WDNR manages the Cypress Island Natural Resources Conservation Area (NRCA), spanning over 5,200 acres, with the aims to protect native ecological environments while providing recreational opportunities to the public. This project will restore natural functions and processes within this barrier estuary largely associated with human developments that will ultimately benefit shoreline processes and the hydrology of the on-site estuarine wetland.
