Jeff Parsons, PhD, PE This 28 acre property is located in the Cypress Island Natural Resource Conservation Area and Aquatic Reserve, one of the largest areas of its kind in the state. Our design helped achieve objectives including:
- Restoring hydrologic connection and nearshore processes to the estuary and adjacent freshwater wetlands and streams by removing a nearshore bulkhead, levee and associated hydraulic infrastructure, and
- Providing a continuum of upland, riparian, freshwater, and salt water habitats.
We led all design, permitting, and PS&E aspects of this marsh restoration project. Construction is complete, and fish have been observed using the restored habitat for refuge and foraging.
