Stormwater Treatment at Recycling Facility Showing Outstanding Results

By

In 2022, Herrera worked with our client and partners at StormwateRx® (a subsidiary of Newterra®) to identify and help design the most cost-effective technology to treat turbidity, metals, and petroleum hydrocarbons in stormwater at a local scrap metal recycler. The two-part treatment train consisting of a Clara® oil-grit-trash-water gravity separator vault and an aboveground Aquip® media filtration system occupies a very small footprint on this extremely busy industrial site. The system is producing clear stormwater with results far below the ISGP permit benchmarks.

Four chambers of the Clara® oil-grit-trash-water gravity separator vault: inlet upper left, settleable solids lower left, oil-water separator lower right, and pump chamber upper right.
