New Resources Available for Municipal Construction Stormwater Site Inspectors

By

Herrera recently released a Municipal Construction Stormwater Site Inspection Toolkit developed to assist municipal inspectors with more effectively tracking compliance with the municipal stormwater National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit. Herrera coordinated with the project lead (the City of Tumwater) and a regional group that included the City of Lacey, City of Olympia, and Thurston County to develop the materials included in the toolkit. Project funding was provided by a Grant of Regional or Statewide Significance from the Washington State Department of Ecology.

The toolkit includes five checklists, two factsheets, and training materials and can be downloaded from the Washington Stormwater Center website.

Three at-capacity trainings were held in late 2018 in Tumwater, Poulsbo, and Edmonds to present the toolkit and hands-on exercises to municipal construction site inspectors, stormwater site plan reviewers, and engineers.

Three additional trainings are scheduled in early 2019:
* Tuesday, February 5 – Thurston County Emergency Management Center
* Tuesday, February 26 – Redmond City Hall
* Tuesday, March 19 – Vancouver City Hall
