"Thanks for ALL of your support the past 2 ½ years that I’ve been associated with HEC. You all have been the most responsive, timely and professional of all my contacts. It’s been excellent for me and for the good of our Island County projects."

Water Quality

For the past 20 years, Herrera has been a Pacific Northwest leader in the fields of water quality and surface water management. Our staff has extensive experience in achieving compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Herrera applies an ecosystem approach to its water quality work, focusing on biogeochemical linkages among biota, sediment, water, and the atmosphere. The Herrera water quality group consists of experienced staff, including three individuals with doctoral degrees, who focus on rigorous monitoring, analysis, and data presentation.

The company’s work on lake, stream, ground water, sediment, and marine water quality investigations has established the Herrera staff as regional water quality experts. We offer a breadth of expertise in areas such as benthic invertebrate analysis, lake management, microbial source tracking, regulation compliance, biogeochemical budget analysis, monitoring of best management practices and low-impact development, open-channel and piped-flow gauging, and statistical analysis of environmental data sets. Our interdisciplinary approach to projects and our diverse staff contribute to the development of broadminded, yet focused work products. Herrera’s expertise encompasses successful planning, monitoring, and analysis strategies that have been applied to projects throughout the Pacific Northwest for clients that include federal, state, and local agencies; tribes; and private companies.
