Carol Slaughterbeck, PE, PMP

Chief Financial Officer

We live in a complex world with many competing interests. I delight in projects and work that constantly improve future outcomes for communities, people, economies, and ecosystems. I love learning new things and working on challenging problems – in my career at Herrera I’ve had many opportunities to do both in my roles as an engineer, a storm sampler, an operations manager, and CFO. Outside of work, I enjoy hanging out with my family, hiking, movies, reading, and chilling at the lake.

Education:
M.S. Civil/Environmental Engineering, University of Washington
B.S. Civil Engineering, University of Idaho
Favorite Species:
Mountain lady’s-slipper, Cypripedium montanum because it is rare but occasionally found near Coeur d’ Alene lake where I grew up and first appreciated the beauty and complexity of our world.
Proudest Moment on the Job:
1990. Herrera had only ten employees. Convinced management to buy its first legal copy of a spreadsheet. It took A LOT of convincing. Seems pretty funny now.
