You Can Recycle That? Part 2

Welcome to the second edition of Herrera’s “You can recycle that?” blog series — tips on how to recycle some “hard to recycle” items.

Most of us toss toothpaste tubes and dental floss containers in the garbage as soon as they run out.

Herrera has recycled toothpaste tubes and dental floss containers through Terracycle since 2016. Colgate sponsors the recycling program, so shipping the oral care items for recycling is free, and they accept oral care items from other companies. Herrera joined a similar recycling program sponsored by Tom’s of Maine in 2016. In addition to toothpaste tubes and dental floss containers, Tom’s of Maine also accepts deodorant containers and caps. Herrera has collected and recycled over 130 items through both programs.
The Tom’s of Maine recycling program has several public drop-off locations in Seattle, Olympia, and Portland.
