The Season for Giving

At Herrera, we strive to make our world a better place through the work we do for our clients.  We are invested in the communities where we live, work and play. Each year our staff vote to determine the recipients of our annual corporate gifts. In 2017, Herrera staff selected food banks, homeless shelters, and organizations that protect the environments across the states of Washington, Oregon, and Montana.

We are proud to support the mission of The Nature Conservancy (www.nature.org) to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends. Since their founding in 1951, through a diverse staff of scientists working on conservation efforts in over 70 countries, The Nature Conservancy has done more to advance conservation around the world than any other organization.

In Oregon, we supported the Willamette Riverkeeper (http://willamette-riverkeeper.org). Founded in 1996 as “Friends of the Willamette River”, their mission is to protect and restore the Willamette River to ensure good water quality and abundant natural habitat enabling the Willamette River Watershed to function more naturally.  Because Herrera agrees that the health of this natural ecosystem is inseparable from the quality of life of our communities who live and work in its surrounding watershed, we have selected Willamette Riverkeeper as a recipient of our 2017 corporate giving campaign.

In Montana, 1 in 8 people struggle with hunger. By supporting the Montana Food Bank Network (https://mfbn.org/) our 2017 donation will contribute to food acquisition and distribution, education and advocacy. MFBN has been feeding Montana since 1983. Montana’s only statewide food bank, their vision is a Montana free from hunger where everyone has equal access to nutritious food.

Mary’s Place (http://www.marysplaceseattle.org/) empowers homeless women, children and families to reclaim their lives by providing shelter, nourishment, resources, healing and hope in a safe community. Mary’s Place in The Regrade is located right behind Herrera’s corporate headquarters in the Denny Regrade neighborhood of downtown Seattle. Our 2017 corporate support will help our neighbor provide beds and resources for homeless women and families in our neighborhood.

Reaching out and engaging with our local communities is an integral part of who we are.  Our staff are also committed to serving our communities through volunteerism and philanthropy. In the spirit of service, our passionate employees make a lasting difference everywhere we live and work.
