The Puget Sound Urban Tree Canopy and Stormwater Management Handbook is now available! This Handbook, along with a corresponding Technical Report, is part of The Puget Sound Urban Tree Canopy and Stormwater Management Project developed by King Conservation District. This project aims to enhance discussion and collaboration between forestry and stormwater professionals by providing resources on runoff related issues and the role of tree canopy in mitigating stormwater. Though framed and addressed to these professional disciplines, project materials are useful to all audiences and users.
Herrera’s Rebecca Dugopolski, PE and Neil Schaner, PE led the Western Washington Hydrology Model (WWHM) portion of the project’s Technical Report, helping demonstrate options for managing stormwater through urban tree canopy. Additionally, our team collaborated closely with Plan-It Geo, who evaluated the efficacy and productive value of i-Tree Hydro.
This Handbook and Technical Report remain useful resources to encourage dialogue between stormwater and forestry professionals regarding tree planting and tree retention as a green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) strategy. Click here to check out the full Handbook and Technical Report!
