Redmond Watershed Management Plan
The City of Redmond is committed to protecting and enhancing the health of the City’s water resources. In 2012, the City decided to develop and implement a comprehensive watershed management plan (WMP), which would establish a long-term framework for restoring surface waters in Redmond using a “watershed approach”. We worked with the City to review existing conditions within each watershed, identify the associated needs, requirements, opportunities, and constraints, and focus rehabilitation efforts on priority areas where the projects will have the greatest environmental benefit. This approach will ensure that impacts will not increase in any watershed while also allowing for significant improvement in stormwater management as compared to the current, scattered nature of stormwater mitigation that has occurred under the Phase II permit. This innovative plan has been used as a criterion for other jurisdictions conducting their own basin planning efforts.
