Port of Seattle’s Fishermen’s Terminal Redevelopment
The Port of Seattle is in the design phase for a redevelopment project at Fishermen’s Terminal. The project includes the redevelopment of two buildings: Gateway and Maritime Innovation Center (MInC), both with high goals of environmental sustainability. The Gateway building is targeting certification under the International Living Future Institute’s CORE green building standard, and the MInC is seeking certification as a full Living Building. Herrera's team is helping to navigate the selection of potential water system strategies to meet the sustainability goals for each building, develop water balances for each site, and facilitate the permitting of the proposed systems. Currently, the water systems proposed include rainwater harvesting systems for both potable and non-potable uses, as well as an onsite blackwater reuse system.
