Join us virtually on June 8th to see Herrera’s team present at the Society of Wetland Scientists (SWS) 2021 Annual Meeting, sponsored at the bronze level by Herrera. Presentations for this meeting will be pre-recorded and broadcasted live, allowing for an interactive Q and A after each session.
Tune in at 6:25am PST to see Herrera’s Rob Zisette present at the Floating Treatment Wetlands session on the Green Lake Floating Wetlands project. This initiative by the Friends of Green Lake aims to improve habitat for native birds and fish, water quality, aesthetic value, and provide wetland education for Seattle’s very popular Green Lake.
Attendees will gain insight into the project work plan, design, and permitting process performed by a team of volunteer professionals. Wetland scientists will also be able to provide input on improving the project’s environmental function and educational value.
At 10:15am PST, log on to watch Christina Merten, Mark Ewbank, and George Ritchotte’s presentation at the Restoration session discussing Herrera’s project with the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) to construct nearly 6 miles of new highway using a watershed approach to mitigation.
They will provide an overview of the environmental analysis, inter-disciplinary design approach, climate change considerations, invasive vegetation treatment strategies, stream and wetland rehabilitation, floodplain reconnection, and creation of special habitat features. George, Christina, and Gretchen Lux from WSDOT will be available for questions after the presentation.
