River and Coastal Services
Herrera’s river and coastal team is devoted to restoring rivers and coastal environments for future generations.
We provide innovative, environmentally sensitive solutions for protecting infrastructure and property and restoring habitat that exceed clients’ expectations. Our interdisciplinary staff addresses the complex issues related to river and coastal engineering and geomorphology, including detailed quantitative analysis and hydraulic modeling; biological assessments and restoration plans; plans, specifications, and cost estimates (PS&E); construction management; and long-term project monitoring.
Herrera’s expertise with rivers includes river reach analysis; delineation of channel migration zones; design of engineered logjams; bank stabilization; and investigation of sediment erosion, transport, and deposition. Our geomorphologists are experts in analyzing fluvial, coastal, and lacustrine environments.
Herrera’s expertise with coastal areas includes shore-drift direction analysis; longshore sediment transport studies; coastal erosion, sedimentation, and sediment budget studies; coastal geomorphology analysis, tidal prism modeling and analysis, inlet stability analysis, beach armoring impact assessment, and habitat restoration design. Our project experience includes coastal and tidal marsh geomorphology, hydrology and hydraulics; design and assessment of shoreline structures; underwater monitoring and inspections; and wave and boat wake analysis.
