Herrera Environmental Consultants, Inc. announces the promotion of Tim Abbe, PhD, LEG, LHG, to Principal River and Coastal Geomorphologist. Dr. Abbe has a doctorate in Geological Sciences from the University of Washington. He is a Registered Geologist in California and Oregon and an Engineering Geologist and Hydrogeologist in Washington. Since Dr. Abbe joined Herrera four years ago, Herrera has come to enjoy a nation-wide reputation for excellence and cutting edge sustainable solutions in geomorphology, large scale river restoration, and engineered log jams
Phil Coughlan, Senior Planner - Phil Coughlan joins Herrera’s planning group. He offers 15 years of experience in solid waste recycling programs, economic and financial feasibility analyses, solid waste characterization, reduction and diversion initiatives, recycled material end-use applications and markets, and recycling technologies. His experience also includes solid waste planning, environmental documentation, and applying economic analysis to environmental decision-making. He will be a key player in Herrera’s EcoValuation venture.
Bret Magdasy, GIS Analyst - Bret Magdasy joins Herrera’s GIS group. Mr. Magdasy performs spatial analyses with Geographic Information Systems in the natural resources field, as well as the production of high quality cartographic products. He specializes in analyzing hydrologic processes, deriving stream channel networks, analyzing current patterns of land use, and has developed spatial analysis techniques for studies of natural resources. He has as a degree in Wildlife and Fisheries, and is completing his Masters degree in Geography/GIS.
Tracy Paulsen, Accounting Assistant - Tracy Paulsen joins Herrera’s Accounting Department. She will be directing accounts payable and receivable for the firm, as well as assisting with payroll. Her background includes the management of student financial accounts, as well as general accounting duties for a local educational institution.
Jeff Parsons, PhD is an Engineer and Coastal Geomorphologist with 15 years of applied and research experience in engineering and geophysics. He has participated in numerous studies of coastal processes, predominantly in Puget Sound. Dr. Parsons taught several courses at the University of Washington on coastal geomorphology.
Eric Doyle is a Fisheries Biologist/Ecologist with 9 years of experience in fisheries science and management, Endangered Species Act compliance, and marine ecology. His expertise is the biological and habitat requirements of native salmonids of the Pacific Northwest. Mr. Doyle has broad experience with watershed restoration and recovery planning, and the application of habitat restoration techniques in rural and urbanized stream environments.
