Herrera Wins ACEC Gold Award

Friday evening Herrera was presented with the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) highest award for Washington State projects: a Gold Award in the category of “Future Value to the Engineering Profession and Public Perception” for our Hoh River Engineered Logjam Highway 101 Protection Project.

Herrera Expands Portland Office

Herrera Environmental Consultants has appointed Dave Felstul as Water Resources Director in the Portland office. Mr. Felstul has completed six watershed master plans in Oregon and has led water quality monitoring and assessment, permitting assistance, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, mixing zone analyses, and lake restoration efforts for municipal, state, and private clients throughout all of the western states and Minnesota. As a regional expert on stormwater best management practices (BMPs), he has authored over a dozen BMP manuals and conducted training courses for clients across the country. Mary Larkin has joined Herrera Environmental Consultants in Portland as a civil engineer with experience in storm drainage design for state and municipal transportation projects in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, including low-impact stormwater management facilities for TriMet’s Delta Park/Vanport Station associated with the Interstate MAX project, and the Bybee Bridge Swale. Her experience also includes hydraulic and hydrologic analysis, water quality monitoring and data analysis, and environmental permitting assistance.

Tibet Bridge Benefit Raises over $17,000

On December 18, 2004, Herrera hosted a holiday party and silent auction that raised over $17,000 toward the construction of a pedestrian bridge in in the village of Shoda, Tibet. All the money will be used for purchasing construction materials for the bridge. See our Outreach page for more about the Tibet Bridge project.

Over one hundred guests attended the party. Many local businesses donated to the event. Entertainment was provided by local band Shakin’ Josie and special guests.
