Herrera Working With Clean Water Services to Restore Bronson Creek

India_small
Herrera Environmental Consultants was recently awarded a contract to provide aquatic habitat enhancement design for Bronson Creek in Washington County. The project encompasses a reach of Bronson Creek between NW Laidlaw Road and NW West Union Road that offers many opportunities for habitat enhancement by installing large woody debris, removing channel obstructions, regrading limited floodplain areas, and improving water quality through extensive riparian planting. The project may also address fish migration barriers at roadway crossings. Herrera engineer Matthew Brennan, PE will manage the project out of Herrera’s Portland Office. Clean Water Services will be responsible for riparian plantings.

Herrera will develop a stream restoration design with enhancement features to improve cover and shading, prevent channel incision and bank erosion, and reconnect portions of the stream to its floodplain. The design will ensure that floodplain elevations do not increase as a result of the project. Herrera engineers will provide oversight through the construction process. Project stakeholders include: the owner, Clean Water Services; Washington County; and the Oregon Division of State Lands.
